This presentation will provide a comprehensive look at today’s biofuels market and its impact on the storage industry.  An update on the Renewable Fuels Standard will be provided as well as current statistics on production, handling and financing for biofuels facilities and related infrastructure.  Compliance, recordkeeping and reporting will also be discussed.

Bio-fuels Equipment Design

Chuck Myers, FMC Technologies

This presentation will provide an overview of the considerations and requirements for the design and construction of skids or for loose equipment to measure and blend bio-fuels such as ethanol and gasoline or B100 and diesel.  A description of each method of blending (ratio, side stream, wild stream, sequential and hybrid) will also be given and the advantages and disadvantages of each will be explored complete with diagrams showing the piping layouts of each.

Stress Corrosion Cracking of Fuel Ethanol Tanks

This presentation will cover tank failures cased by ethanol-induced stress corrosion cracking, provide results of known research and recent studies on tank integrity, and give recommendations for additional study to reduce risk of failure in specific ethanol storage applications.
