ABS Group and ILTA have teamed up to bring this informative webinar exclusively for ILTA members Understanding Cyber Security Through the Lens of USCG NVIC 01-20 on Wednesday, May 13th at 2:00 PM EST . The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has issued the Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) 01-20 announcing the agency's position on cyber security and cyber risk management controls for maritime facilities regulated under the 33 CFR 105 code of federal regulations – Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) regulated facilities. 

ABS Group has a longstanding relationship working closely with USCG to support safety and risk management in the maritime industry. Our Cyber Security team developed the first training course for facility security officers outlining the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework in accordance with USCG recommendations. In this webinar, Captain Dave Nichols (USCG, ret.) and Cyber Security Assessor Brian Shajari discuss how to navigate NVIC 01-20 and conform to the standards and guidance set forth in this new Circular.

Captain Dave Nichols, USCG (ret.) is Business Development Director for Marine and Offshore at ABS Group. He is responsible for the development and delivery of cyber security services for maritime ports and terminals worldwide.

Brian A. Shajari
Brian is a Senior Cyber Security Assessor at ABS Group Cyber Security team and specializes in vessel/port cyber and physical security, working with clients, Coast Guard partners and other government agencies to implement cyber security best practices and policies that affect MTSA-regulated facilities.

Maritime Transportation Security Act – Facility Security Officer Training

ILTA, in conjunction with the Roberts Law Group/Chemical Security Group, is pleased to offer virtual Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) – Facility Security Officer (FSO) training. This class will satisfy the training requirements of 33 CFR § 105.205 to serve as FSO (or Alternate FSO) and will be conducted online in one day. At the conclusion of the class, each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion to demonstrate compliance to the US Coast Guard. This training is also recommended for current FSOs/AFSOs who would like a refresher class in light of new and emerging MTSA issues. Learn More.
