ILTA Regional Emergency Response Exercise

ILTA announces a regional emergency response exercise to be held in Tampa, Florida on Wednesday, August 15 and Thursday, August 16, 2018.

The multi-day session will feature elements of a discussion-based, operations-based, and tabletop exercise. The program will commence with a series of industry/agency presentations and roundtable discussions, focusing on the challenges associated with the response to an aboveground storage tank fire in the Port of Tampa. A demonstration of firefighting techniques will follow at Murphy Oil USA's Tampa Terminal on Hookers Point, complemented by the deployment of oil spill containment and recovery resources in the neighboring deepwater channel.  The seminar will conclude in the form of a tabletop exercise, with establishment of an Incident Command System (ICS) organization to manage the response during the transition from the "reactive" phase to the "proactive" phase.

This exercise is being jointly planned by Murphy Oil USA, Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Citgo Petroleum Corporation, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), Tampa Fire Rescue, Tampa Port Authority (TPA), Williams Fire & Hazard Control, and Robert J. Meyers & Associates. For more information on the exercise, go here. To register for the exercise, click here
