ILTA Attends House Hearing on CFATS
ILTA attended a House Homeland Security Committee hearing on February 27, at which the panel began eyeing long-term reauthorization of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards. The hearing, which featured testimony from representatives from the Department of Homeland Security and the Government Accountability Office, focused on DHS’ progress toward securing the nation’s key chemical infrastructure under the CFATS program. TOPS, ILTA Spring Committee Meetings Coming Soon 
The Second Annual Terminal Operating Practices Symposium (TOPS) is quickly approaching. Scheduled for April 4 at the Hilton Americas-Houston, this all-day, terminal-employee-only event will feature lessons learned from incidents, near hits and daily operations. Prior to TOPS, the Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Committee will meet starting on April 2 and continuing through April 3. Following TOPS, ILTA’s Operations Council will convene on the morning of April 5. Read More
ILTA Participates in Fuels Institute Diesel Fuel Quality Workshop 
Cliff Thompson, fuel quality manager with Energy Transfer Partners, represented the terminals industry at a recent workshop hosted by the Fuels Institute on diesel fuel quality. The workshop, held in Washington D.C. on February 19-20, brought together vehicle manufacturers and stakeholders involved in the diesel supply chain. With the introduction of high compression, common rail diesel engines into the vehicle fleet, fuel quality issues such as entrained water and solids are receiving increased attention. Read More
Jordy Hendrikx Announced as ILTA 2019 Keynote Speaker 
ILTA is excited to announce that Professor Jordy Hendrikx, the director of the snow and avalanche lab at Montana State University, will serve as a keynote speaker at this year’s conference. Dr. Hendrikx will help us “rethink risk,” drawing from lessons learned from training skiers in avalanche safety. Read More
ILTA President Highlights Importance of Ports, Infrastructure 
ILTA President Kathryn Clay gave a featured presentation at the annual Energy Policy Summit hosed by the American Association of Blacks in Energy at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. on February 28. In her remarks, Kathryn explained the importance of the terminal industry to the overall functioning of the energy supply chain. Read More
