ILTA Board Plans for Growing Advocacy Role at July Meeting

The ILTA Board met on July 28-29 in Vail, Colorado to cover a full agenda including advocacy updates, a review of the performance of the June conference and trade show, and consideration of new strategies for membership recruitment.

ILTA staff provided briefings on recent advocacy work on behalf of the tank terminal industry. Recent accomplishments included:

  • Positive outcome regarding the TWIC reader rule, with the Coast Guards announcement of a further three-year delay in implementation, and a commitment to review the RAND report for guidance on the best path forward.
  • Development of extensive comments on the EPA proposed Gasoline Distribution Rule, after a year-long consultative process with ILTA members engaged in multiple working groups.
  • Further outreach to Congressional offices on PFAS usage in firefighting foams, educating staffers on the need for a safe, well-managed, multi-year transition.

The Board was also briefed on recent successes in membership recruitment and discussed ways to support further growth of the organization.
