The ILTA Safety Survey is a key component of our commitment to advancing safe and reliable terminal operations across the industry. Survey results help benchmark leading practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and determine recipients of the Safety Excellence Award.

Purpose of the ILTA Safety Survey
The Safety Survey helps ILTA and its members:
- Establish an industry-wide benchmark for leading safety practices
- Recognize companies that demonstrate exceptional safety performance
- Support continuous improvement and strengthen facility safety programs
- Inform ILTA’s educational, regulatory, and member support initiatives
How It Works
The assessment includes 23 questions evaluating leading indicators of your company’s safety program. Each question uses a 1–4 rating scale; to receive a rating, your program must meet all criteria listed for that level.
For efficiency, please review the Excel worksheet with all questions and rating criteria before beginning the online survey. You may keep it open as a reference while completing your responses.
Completion of this assessment, along with the follow-up survey covering 2025 OSHA statistics, is required to be considered for the 2026 Safety Excellence Award.
Requirements & Deadlines
- Survey due: January 16, 2026
- One submission per company
- A follow-up survey covering 2025 OSHA statistics will be distributed in mid-January 2026 along with the Platinum Safety Award application.
- Completion of both surveys is required to be considered for the 2026 Safety Excellence Award.
