ILTA signs MOU with Indian Ports Association

Washington, DC, March 2, 2021—The International Liquid Terminals Association and the Indian Ports Association signed an agreement to “collaborate to share best practices on handling and management of liquid commodities to achieve the highest levels of operational excellence.”
The agreement comes as IPA hosts the 2021 Maritime India Summit (March 2-4) that provides a unique virtual and physcial platform for discussion, education and collaboration amoung shippig and transport ministers and executives from all over the world. “ILTA is honored to participate in this important international collaboration,” said ILTA President Kathryn Clay, who will speak at the summit on March 4. “I commend the Indian Port Association and the other event organizers for their leadership in bringing together partners from around the world to share knowledge to the benefit of our respective members.”
The IPA-ILTA agreement will facilitate information exchange about operational best practices and workforce training. The MOU focuses on the following elements:
1. Exchange of operational best practices, human resources and management topics, and benchmarking industry performance.
2. Information sharing related to training activities, including safety and emergency response preparedness.
3. Jointly organizing sessions on facility integrity, asset protection, management systems and contractor management.
About the Indian Ports Association: The Indian Ports Association is the apex body of major ports under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Government of India. The key objectives of IPA include undertaking research/techno-economic studies on maritime issues, providing technical consultancy on development works undertaken by Major Ports, promoting indigenous manufacturing of port equipment, working towards standardization of HR policies and training of personnel for manning different services in the major ports. The IPA has been appointed as the nodal agency under the Training Policy 2020 launched by Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways.
