ILTA Gearing Up for Fall EHSS Meeting

ILTA will host its next Environment, Health & Safety and Security Committee Meeting August 30-September 2 via Zoom . The EHSS meetings serve as a platform for ILTA terminal members to share with and learn from their peers as well as hear from outside experts on matters of importance to the bulk liquid storage industry.  Over the four-day event, ILTA terminal members can engage with one another on some of the most pressing issues facing the sector under the new Biden administration and the ongoing pandemic.

Mike Santee of CITGO will kick off the virtual meetings on August 30. That Full Committee meeting will begin with a presentation from Niall Ramsden of LASTFIRE, the leading global consortium studying fluorine-free firefighting foams, on large scale demonstrations conducted in Europe over the summer months.  ILTA President, Kathryn Clay, will then discuss ILTA’s Environment, Social, and Governance Initiative as well as ILTA’s developing online ESG resource library.

August 31’s Environment Subcommittee Meeting, co-chaired by Sprague Energy’s Jay LeDuc and Keith Ocheski of Buckeye Partners, will overview recent state and local legislation in Texas and Maine that target terminal emissions and the growing environmental policy focus in many parts of the country.  Dr. Clay will also overview EPA’s recently announced technology review of gasoline distribution regulations, as well as ILTA’s growing efforts to better inform the agency and its coming end-of-year proposed rule on the matter.

The Health & Safety Committee, chaired by Byrne Evans of IMTT, will meet on September 1. Aaron Gelb of Conn Maciel Carey LLP will discuss COVID-19 workplace considerations and recent OSHA regulations. ILTA Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Andrew Wright, will also discuss ILTA’s recent comments to OSHA regarding its proposed walking-working surfaces rules.  The day will be rounded out by a panel discussion on learned lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The final day, September 2, will feature the Security Subcommittee Meeting, chaired by Jerry Jerdine of Ergon. U.S. Coast Guard Commander Nicollette Vaughn will outline new developments and answer questions on the soon-to-be implemented TWIC reader rule.  A representative from DHS CISA will also present on the newly announced Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative, a new agency effort to lead the development of cyber defense operations plans, and to execute those plans in coordination with partners from the federal interagency, private sector, and state, local, tribal, territorial (SLTT) government stakeholders.

All in all, the September event is shaping up to be a fantastic learning experience! ILTA terminal members can sign up for free here: https://www.ilta.org/Events-Training/Fall-EHSS-Committee-Meetings

We hope to see you there!
