Government Affairs Subcommittee: Advancing Industry through Advocacy

For more than 50 years, ILTA has been the leading voice for the bulk liquid terminal industry. Our advocacy efforts are informed by the real-world insights and concerns of our terminal member companies. To support this mission, the Government Affairs Subcommittee (GAS) was established to provide strategic direction and ensure our industry's priorities are heard by key policymakers.

The GAS plays a central role in shaping ILTA’s advocacy agenda, including:

  • Defining policy priorities for Capitol Hill engagement

  • Submitting comments on key regulatory rulemakings

  • Representing the industry in hearings

  • Participating in policy briefings with agency officials and industry coalitions

As ILTA’s advocacy footprint expands, each terminal member company is encouraged to designate a representative to serve on the subcommittee. A strong and diverse group ensures that our collective voice reflects the full breadth of the terminal industry and strengthens our influence in Washington, DC and state capitals throughout the country.

The Government Affairs Subcommittee meets virtually on the third Wednesday of every month. The subcommittee is currently co-chaired by Philip Squair of Colonial Pipeline and Jake Hinch of Marathon Petroleum.

Your engagement makes our advocacy stronger. To join us as we continue to advance policies that protect and promote the terminal industry, please reach out to James Privette, Senior Manager of Government Affairs, at jprivette@ilta.org
