Member Feature: Brent Weber, President & CEO, Intercontinental Terminals Company

Brent Weber, a recent appointment to the ILTA Board of Directors, has served as President and CEO of Intercontinental Terminals Company (ITC) since 2021. A graduate of Louisiana State University, Brent has over 25 years of experience, a career that has ranged from organic and inorganic manufacturing management to sales and marketing.

We recently had the opportunity to interview Brent about his career and his engagement with ILTA.

How did you first become involved in the terminal industry? Share a bit about your journey.

I started my career at OxyChem and was with OxyChem for 15 years in various roles in Geismar, Louisiana, and Houston, Texas. During my time in Houston, ITC was a supply chain partner with OxyChem and was essential to our business. In 2016, I was fortunate to join ITC as the Senior VP of Operations. In 2018, I moved to the Sales and Marketing side of the business and in 2021 became the President and CEO.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is the relationships I develop with ITC’s wonderful associates and the great people in the terminal industry. As a leader, I feel it is important to know your people and be accessible to everyone in the company. Relationships are critical to my success.

What advice would you offer to someone just starting their career with a liquid terminal company?

I like to keep it simple. The advice I would give is to work hard, develop relationships, understand the criticality of terminals in the world supply chain, and learn as much as you possibly can!

What would you say to a young person to encourage them to pursue a future career with a liquid terminal company?

The terminal industry is full of opportunities and career prospects. It is a vital industry for the world and will be an essential component in the energy evolution. It is an exciting industry filled with dedicated, intelligent, and caring people.

How have you seen the industry change throughout your career?

When I moved from the manufacturing world into the terminal industry, I felt terminal companies were behind in safety and the use of technology. Over the last seven years, I strongly feel the terminal industry has taken great, positive steps in safety and the use of technology and automation.”

How do you think the industry will continue to change over the next 5, 10, or 20 years?

The industry will definitely progress and improve. I believe the terminal industry will be critical in energy evolution, will continue embracing and implementing technology, and will improve in safety and environmental stewardship.

What is your level of involvement with ILTA?

Since 2017, I have attended the ILTA Annual Conference and Trade Show but have not been extremely involved. I recently joined the Board of Directors and attended my first board meeting. I am incredibly impressed with the ILTA leadership staff and the board members. I am excited and honored to be part of the team.

Do you belong to any community or civic organizations you’d like to mention?

ITC is very active in volunteering and community support. We support multiple great organizations in the Houston area and ITC’s associates are dedicated to volunteering, supporting, and helping our communities.

Do you have any hobbies or interests you’d like to mention?

My favorite hobbies are exercising, reading, and playing video games. I like to keep my body healthy and my mind active, but still enjoy being a kid!
