ILTA to Host March EHSS Meeting

Following January’s successful iteration, ILTA will host its next Environment, Health & Safety and Security Committee Meeting March 29-April 1. The EHSS meetings serve as a platform for ILTA terminal members to share with and learn from their peers as well as hear from outside experts on matters of importance to the bulk liquid storage industry.  Over the four-day event, ILTA terminal members can engage with one another on some of the most pressing issues facing the sector under the new Biden administration and the ongoing pandemic.

Mike Santee of CITGO kick off the virtual meetings on March 29. That Full Committee Meeting will highlight progress on ILTA’s Communications Toolkit, designed to provide the industry with a standard set of communications resources to share the critical role bulk liquid storage facilities play in the wider economy, both now and in the future. The day’s discussion will also feature a presentation from AJW Inc., an environmental policy consulting firm that has been working with ILTA on evolving regulations related to PFAS, including firefighting foam.

March 30’s Environment Subcommittee Meeting, co-chaired by Sprague Energy’s Jay LeDuc and Keith Ocheski of Buckeye Partners, will overview ILTA’s new Environment, Social and Governance initiative. ILTA is working to develop an industry wide ESG report library for members and will look to take the program to the next level with member feedback. The afternoon will also feature a presentation from Megan Berge of Baker Botts LLP, who will provide an overview of executive actions taken in the first days of the Biden administration and what that signals for the next four years.

The Health & Safety Committee, chaired by Byrne Evans of IMTT, will meet on March 31 to discuss COVID-19 workplace considerations and new OSHA regulations, including the vaccine rollout. OSHA experts from Conn Maciel Carey LLP and a to-be-announced human resources legal exert will serve as guest panelists for what is sure to be a fantastic discussion.

The final day, April 1, will feature the Security Subcommittee Meeting, chaired by Jerry Jerdine of Ergon. The meeting will outline new developments on the TWIC reader rule and CFATS program.  Specifically, ILTA consultants Steve Roberts and Roy Nash will discuss their meetings with U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters to address and correct misunderstandings related to TWIC.  Todd Klessman of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, will provide an update on potential changes to how gasoline and other fuels are treated under CFATS guidelines.

All in all, the March event is shaping up to be our best yet! ILTA terminal members can sign up for free here: https://www.ilta.org/Events-Training/EHS-S-Committee-March-Meetings

We hope to see you there!
