Registration Now Open for Fall 2022 EHSS Committee Meetings

Make your plans now to attend the EHSS Committee Meetings September 21-22 at the Omni Parker House in Boston, Massachusetts. We are building on the momentum and the record attendance of our Spring EHSS Committee meetings in New Orleans in March. The agenda for the upcoming meetings includes time for discussion of important challenges facing our industry, as well as plenty of time for networking with industry peers.

This Fall, we are taking a deep dive into a topic that we know is a major challenge for our industry – managing the transition away from PFAS-based firefighting foams. The agendas for the Environment Committee and the Health and Safety Committee will include panels of experts on a number of key dimensions that terminal owner operators will need to understand to make informed decisions. Topics will include:

·        Health Effects of PFAS Exposure and the Need for a Transition,

·        Availability and Efficacy of Fluorine-Free Alternative Foams,

·        Considerations for Fire Response Equipment and Response Planning,

·        Environmental Remediation Considerations, and

·        State and Federal Legislative and Policy Updates on PFAS.

In addition, the leaders of our Gasoline Distribution Working Group will provide a summary of the major points made in ILTA’s comments to the proposed rule, which was published in the Federal Register on June 10. The group will also discuss what to look for in the final rule, expected in June 2023, and possible next steps for ILTA in relation to the rule. The Health and Safety Committee will receive an update on the latest from OSHA.

We are planning an especially full agenda for our Security Committee, with high level speakers from both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The Committee will receive a current update of the TWIC reader rule delay and anticipated changes to the reader rule requirements, provided by LCDR Jeff Bender, Office of Port & Facility Compliance, United States Coast Guard.

Next, the Committee will receive a report and have a robust discussion about physical security, including how Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) are being re-evaluated by CISA, as well as updates on cybersecurity and possible impacts to terminals. Our invited speakers are Alaina R. Clark, Assistant Director for Stakeholder Engagement, (CISA), and Matthew McCann, the Region 1 Director for the CISA within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

We will continue to update the EHSS Committee Meetings Agenda as additional speakers are confirmed. Please follow this link to find the agenda.
