Following the Colonial Pipeline shutdown in early May, Colonial Pipeline CEO Joseph Blount faced two days of questioning June 8 and 9 before both the Senate Homeland Security & Government Affairs Committee and the House Committee on Homeland Security. During the hearings, Blount defended his company’s decision to halt the pipeline’s operations and pay a $5 million ransom to DarkSide, the eastern European hacker group responsible for the ordeal.

ILTA members take safety seriously, and they see it as a core value of the industry. The association makes sure to recognize companies that go above and beyond with their safety programs through the ILTA Safety Excellence Awards. 

In partnership with Saudi Aramco and Tank Storage Magazine, ILTA hosted its first ever Young Terminals Industry Professionals Summit on April 6. The event was aimed at both younger professionals just entering the industry and long-time terminal veterans looking to pass on their experience. At its core, the event was meant to strengthen cross-generational communications between millennial workers now taking on management roles and both Gen-Xers and Baby Boomers looking to pass the torch. 

ILTA held its annual spring Environment, Health & Safety and Security Committee virtually on March 29-April 1, featuring four days of fantastic discussion on significant matters affecting the tank terminals industry.  

Working closely with Saudi Aramco and Tank Storage Magazine, ILTA will host its inaugural Young Terminal Industry Professionals Symposium on April 6. The online conference is aimed at all types of under-35 professionals in the bulk liquid storage industry, from those working outside on terminals themselves to those managing their operations inside. The three- hour event will feature presentations on a variety of topics for what is sure to be a cannot-miss event.
