ILTA is excited to announce two new members of the Board of Directors.  Regina Zolnor, Vice President, MPLX Logistics and Storage Terminals and Brent Weber, President and CEO, Intercontinental Terminals Company.

Regina Zolnor joined MPLX Logistics & Storage Terminals in 2018, first as a Manager of Corporate Personal Safety & Process Safety, working her way up to Vice President over the last six years. Ms. Zolnor oversees around one hundred light product and asphalt terminals across the United States, housing around one thousand tanks and storing over 35 million barrels of shell capacity.

Prior to joining Marathon, Regina worked for both British Petroleum from 2005-2013, and then Andeavor/Tesoro from 2013-2018. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering and an Masters of Business Administration from Yale University.

Brent Weber, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) joined ITC in 2016. He began at ITC as the Senior Vice President of Operations where he focused on Safety performance, Operational Excellence, and Efficient Terminal Operations. In early 2018, he transitioned to the role of Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he and his team were focused on continued growth of the Deer Park and Pasadena terminals as well as supporting ITC-Rubis in Antwerp. On April 1, 2021, Brent became President and CEO of ITC. Mr. Weber is also the Chairman of the Board for ITC-Rubis.

Brent began his career with Nalco Chemical Company in 1999 as a District Representative in Louisiana.  In 2001, he moved to Occidental Chemical Company in Geismar, Louisiana. He started as Process Engineer and progressed through multiple positions in both Organic and Inorganic manufacturing management. Mr. Weber moved to Houston, Texas in 2012 to become the Plant Manager of the Occidental Chemical Battleground Chlor-Alkali site. From 2014 to 2016 he was the Plant Manager of the Occidental Chemical La Porte VCM site. Brent is a graduate of Louisiana State University, where he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1998.

About 18 years ago, Mitchell Garner was searching for a career that had meaning, discipline and a place where strong bonds could be developed. He ended up accepting a position as an industrial firefighter for a company in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he and his colleagues were resident contractors to major oil and gas companies along the Gulf Coast.

“That career opportunity opened me to a world of knowledge about industry operations and industrial safety,” said Garner.

Years later, he transitioned to a terminal company in the Houston area where he spent nine years in their EHS department. Today, as Regional Manager of Safety and Emergency Response for LBC Tank Terminals, Garner truly enjoys the work he does.

On Tuesday, May 7, ILTA held its Annual ILTA Safety Awards Presentation and Breakfast to honor 28 terminal member companies that achieved outstanding safety performance in 2023.

To receive the 2024 ILTA Safety Excellence Award, companies were required to score in the top two quartiles for both the 20 question self-assessment survey on leading indicators and the lagging indicator survey based on OSHA Form 300A.  This year, 52 companies participated in the safety survey, representing 70 percent of our membership.

In 2009, Steven Laws had been working in Whiting, Indiana—away from home—for approximately one year. It was then a friend of Laws called and asked if he was interested in working for a terminal company.

“I wanted to get back home and had never worked in a terminal, so I saw it a new opportunity and started working for Intercontinental Terminals Company (ITC) in 2009,” said Laws, who is still with the company today in in Deer Park, Texas as a Safety Specialist II.

For Laws, the best part of his job is getting the opportunity to work with a great team.

“ITC has allowed me to grow as an employee and afforded me opportunity to grow in my personal life as well,” Laws said, offering advice to those just starting out in the industry. “Look, learn and listen; be a sponge absorbing all the information you can. Also, if your new to the liquid terminal business, utilize your resources (veteran employees, policies and procedures, etc.)”

Greg Mouras, General Manager of US Midstream Operations for Shell, got his start in the industry working at the company when he was fresh out of school 20 years ago. As an engineer providing technical support for operations, Mouras worked in upstream operations for 15 years before a new opportunity presented itself in midstream operations in 2018.

“That was when I really got opened up to the terminal industry, specifically in crude, refined products and chemicals,” Mouras said, touching on the two elements of his job he enjoys most. “Definitely the people. I get to work with a great team, extended team, and organization. That's what switches me on is getting to work with people.”

Mouras also enjoys the technical challenges and problem-solving aspects that come along with his role.

“In operations, there’s never a lack of things to work out, whether technically or commercially,” he said. “It really is a 24/7 fast-paced environment, which has always been appealing to me.”

Industry wide, Mouras says he’s noticed a shift over the last several years of companies focusing intently on their bottom lines, in addition to a major shift toward renewable, greener energy sources.
